As one of the earliest thought leaders in Competitive Intelligence, Kirk Tyson has been providing clients with time-based strategic services for over 30 years. His primary areas of expertise include competitive intelligence research, strategic planning, benchmarking, business development, and executive presentations.
A renowned industry expert, Kirk is the author of nine books on strategy, competition, and competitive intelligence, including the best-selling Complete Guide to Competitive Intelligence (Leading Edge Publications, 5th ed. 2010). He is a highly acclaimed seminar leader, having presented hundreds of seminars in 25 countries, and a favorite speaker at industry and professional associations, including The Conference Board, American Marketing Association, and the Association for Corporate Growth.
Kirk is a Founding Member of the association of Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals, of which he received the organization’s Lifetime Meritorious Award in 2005. Prior to launching his own consulting firm, Kirk worked at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), where he co-founded their Strategic Services consulting practice in the U.S. and Europe. As part of that practice, he advanced many of the strategic models and analytical techniques used by companies today. Kirk has an MBA in Marketing and a BBA in Accounting. He is also a former CPA.
Collin Heinz has been leading local, national, and international research projects for the last 15 years in a wide range of industries: healthcare, insurance, information technology, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, consumer products, education, genomics, financial services, manufacturing, and logistics, among others.
His professional background centers around designing, leading, and conducting strategic market entry, benchmarking, market landscape, competitor profile, and customer insight studies for mid-market and Fortune 100 companies. In addition to strategic studies, Collin also assists clients with research studies to inform tactical decision-making in areas such as product, pricing, manufacturing, service delivery, distribution, advertising, and promotion. Collin is well-known among colleagues and clients as a quick study in the technical aspects of industries, and as a master communicator and facilitator of strategy development activities.

Prior to joining Tyson Heinz, Collin spent several years as a quantitative market analyst, excelling at synthesizing key insights from masses of data. Previously, he served in public service as a deputy ombudsman, working with elected officials and government administrators to investigate and resolve citizen complaints. Collin completed undergraduate work in Engineering and Social Science, followed by post-graduate studies in Research & Analysis Methodologies and Ethics.
